Product Description
The revolutionary SteriPEN JourneyLCD uses universal symbols to take the guesswork out of the water purification process. Journey’s integrated LCD screen displays the user’s dose selection (1/2 liter or 1 liter), battery status and countdown timer. The LCD screen also tracks the number of uses and signals when lamp usage approaches its life limit. At 8,000 cycles, lamp life for SteriPEN JourneyLCD reaches a new high (purify 1 liter 4 times a day for nearly 7 years!). Like all SteriPENs, the Journey is Fast (48 seconds for 0.5 L (16 oz.)), Light (128g /4.5 oz.), Effective, and even easier with it’s innovative LCD screen. The Journey mates with the SteriPEN pre-filter and is sized between our Adventurer and Classic. Journey ships with two non-rechargeable (disposable) CR123 batteries.

I bought two of these, and they include the CR123 batteries, but even though there was a plastic strip to keep the batteries disconnected, the batteries were run down on both of them. The display would function, but the light would only turn on for 1 or 2 seconds then indicate the batteries were dead. I measured them with a meter and they were low. I put in fresh batteries and they worked fine.
Except for the dud battery issue, I’m happy with the bottle, filter, and sterilizer. It’s a good package deal. I can’t tell you if the Steripen kills bacteria and viruses or not, you’ll have to trust test reports for that.

Awesome product to keep in B.O.B or S.E.R.E kit. Also great 4 mountain bikers etc.

This is so simple to use, I feel like a 5 year old. Happy face, sad face. Yeah, that’s how you know if it worked or not.
Hard to remember if you turn it on first, or stick it in the water and then turn it on. Causes me to panic that it doesn’t work.

We used the SteriPen on a trip to China where they continually tell you not to drink the tap water. The hotels provide you with some bottled water but it is never enough. So the SteriPen allowed us to have all of the water that we wanted. I would definitely recommend it. Now we have passed it on to our son-in-law who is an active Boy Scout leader.

I drank Mexican tap water at a hostel for a week straight without problems! Works great!

Took Steripen journey on trip in backcountry after testing at home. Failed on original batteries, then failed with 2nd set. Only cleaned 1 liter. Gave frown face for batteries although batteries were full charge before and checked again when I returned home. Used Katadyn ceramic as backup. Would not rely on this alone, technology can fail. My unit was likely a lemon, but I returned it. No confidence. I am sure it is a time saver if it worked properly.
